According to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), Ghana’s GDP increased by 3.2 percent in the second quarter of this year, a decline of 0.3 percent from the same period last year.
At a news conference on Wednesday, Samuel Kobina Annim, the government statistician at the GSS, presented the data and stated that the services sector had experienced the biggest increase, at 6.3 percent, followed by the agriculture sector, at 6.0 percent.
The GSS also decreased the previously reported first-quarter growth rate of 4.2 percent to 3.3 percent during the meeting.
Ghana, a significant supplier of cocoa, gold, and fossil fuels, is currently experiencing its worst economic hardship in decades due to an excessive public debt load. The government of Ghana expects economic growth of 1.5% this year.
