John Dramani Mahama, a former president and the leader of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), visited John Agyekum Kufuor, his senior counterpart, to express his condolences for the loss of his wife, Madam Theresa Kufuor.
We are deeply heartbroken by the demise of our esteemed mother, former First Lady Madam Theresa Kufuor, Mr. Mahama said, flanked by several of his former appointments.
He claimed that the late former first lady carried herself with dignity and was regarded by the Ghanaian people as the nation’s mother.
On this sad occasion, our hearts go out to the widower, President Agyekum Kufuor, and the entire family.
May God grant her peaceful repose.
From January 7, 2001, to January 6, 2009, Mrs. Theresa Kufuor held the position of First Lady of Ghana. She passed away on October 1, 2023.
After her husband left power, she stayed out of politics and the media and kept a low profile. She was 88 years old.
