A registration officer at the Pusiga District Registration Center was fired by the Electoral Commission (EC) on May 13, 2024, for neglecting to physically check the Ghana Cards of certain individual applicants.
About 17 people utilized fake Ghana Card numbers during the current voter registration exercise at the aforementioned center, according to a statement from the commission.
However, after reporting the incident to the police, the implicated Registration Officer was fired and then taken into custody.
The public and other interested parties have received assurances from EC that the voter registration drive is being carried out in an open and inclusive way.
