Some Ghana Police Service officials are celebrating the potential removal of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, according to rumors that have been going about.

Unverified rumors suggest that Dr. Dampare has allegedly been requested to proceed on leave immediately and turn over the keys to his second-in-command, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

It is said that ineffective leadership in the police administration has killed the esprit de corps among staff members and lowered officer morale.

Dr. Dampare was removed, allegedly because of a scandal involving leaked tapes that was recently the subject of a probe by a parliamentary committee led by Samuel Atta Akyea, the MP for Abuakwa South.

Dampare was accused of lying multiple times and of being economical with the truth, despite the MPs giving him a clear sheet of health.

Although he blatantly misled that he had no communication with the former NPP Northern Regional Chairman, his call logs revealed that he was having an affair with Daniel Bugri Naabu.

According to a different source, the IGP is being fired due to accusations of insorbodination.

The news has caused varied reactions within the Service, with some expressing relief and others waiting for formal confirmation and the next steps in this unfolding situation, even though these reports are still unsubstantiated.
