Kennedy Agyapong, a former New Patriotic Party flagbearer candidate, declared that he would be selfish if he did not support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He maintains his membership in the New Patriotic Party and claims not to be selfish.
He must actively support Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy as Ghana’s next president.
“When you go to a contest, there is only one winner, and I am still a member of the party. So, we must all campaign for Dr. Bawumia.” he said.
Kennedy Agyapong made these statements while speaking to fans in Abossey Okai.
He was there to promote Dr. Bawumia’s presidential campaign alongside the party’s running mate, Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
In response to the residents of Abossey Okai’s worries, he gave them the assurance that Dr. Bawumia is dedicated to taking care of their problems.
He pointed out that although Dr. Bawumia’s capacity to make immediate changes is restricted as Vice President, he had promised during his campaign to remove high taxes on spare parts and introduce flat taxation.
Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin Central MP, contended that the goals of these actions are to alleviate pressure on companies and enhance the financial circumstances of the residents of Abossey Okai.
The NPP’s accomplishments under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership were emphasized by the Assin Central legislature, which also emphasized that the party’s goal was to build on these achievements rather than go back to previous policies.
He emphasized that continuity and advancement in governance will be guaranteed by Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.
He also responded to charges that he should have supported Dr. Bawumia instead of running against him in the NPP presidential primary.
He made it clear that his backing for Bawumia is consistent with party unity and the group’s overall objective of furthering the party’s mission as a member.
Kennedy Agyapong also attacked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for living up to its socialist name but failing to enact substantive social policy.
He argued that the NPP has successfully carried out people-beneficial policies, establishing the party as a more pragmatic force for social welfare.
His appeal for cooperation and support comes at a critical juncture as the party prepares for the elections with the goal of preserving its current course of governance and attending to the urgent needs of its constituents.
