In advance of the 2024 legislative elections, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has chosen to remove Joseph Frempong as the Member of Parliament for Nkwakaw in the Eastern Region. This decision was made after consulting with the National Council.
Tuesday, September 3, 2024, saw the adoption of the decision at an urgent meeting in Accra.
The reason for the replacement, according to party sources, is Joseph Frempong’s present health issues, which make it impossible for him to participate in the strenuous campaign activities needed for the next elections.
The NPP has announced Mr. David Asante as its new parliamentary candidate for the Nkwakaw Constituency. Mr. Asante is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited at the moment.
Nkwakaw native Mr. Asante ran before in the party’s January 2024 parliamentary primaries, but incumbent Joseph Frempong prevailed.
Mr. Asante will likely spearhead the NPP’s bid to hold onto the Nkwakaw seat in the general elections of 2024 with his new position.
