If elected president, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to reduce electricity bills by 50% with a proposed “One District, One Solar Farm” initiative.
This pledge was made by Dr. Bawumia during a campaign visit of the Ashanti Region’s Atwima Kwanwoma, Kwadaso, and Bantama Constituencies.
In order to lessen dependency on traditional power sources and lower electricity costs for citizens and companies nationwide, the project intends to utilize solar energy.
“My one district, one-solar farm initiative will reduce electricity costs by 50%.” Dr. Bawumia said
Concern over the exorbitant cost of power for households and companies was voiced by the vice president of the Republic of Ghana.
He clarified that the dependence on pricey imported gas and oil for the production of electricity is the main cause of the high tariffs.
Through his interactions with a range of stakeholders, including Traditional Leaders, Clergy, Imams, Youth, and members of these constituencies, he informed them of the many advantages his revolutionary ideas would offer the nation to further advance development.
Dr. Bawumia’s policies, which include tax amnesty, training 1,000,000 youth in IT skills, easy passport acquisition with the GhanaCard, introduction of solar and wind power on commercial bases, zero duty on solar panels, expansion of educational infrastructure, reorientation of Ghana’s education system towards STEM and AI, free tertiary education for people with disabilities, flat tax rate, a Minerals Development Bank, continuation of the free SHS and free TVET policies, and more, comprise a bold and comprehensive plan to propel Ghana to the next level of growth with an emphasis on job creation, economic empowerment, and social development.
