Former track and field sprinting specialist Vida Anim represents Ghana. She was born in Accra, Ghana, on December 28, 1983.
Long jumper by trade, Anim eventually converted to sprinting in the athletics world. She competed for Ghana in a number of international events, such as the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, and African Championships.

The 2001 World Championships in Athletics in Edmonton, Canada, was Anim’s debut in a major international tournament. She took part in the 100- and 200-meter races there. She later participated in the 100- and 200-meter races at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, Anim had a breakthrough when she won a gold medal in the 100-meter event and broke a previous Commonwealth Games record in the process. At the same competition, she also took home a bronze medal in the 200-meter race.



At several international tournaments, Anim went on to win numerous medals for Ghana, including a silver medal in the 4×100-meter relay at the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.
Anim has a background in nursing and has a degree in nursing from the University of Ghana in addition to her sports career. She has participated in a variety of charitable endeavors, such as offering healthcare to underprivileged areas in Ghana.
Vida Anim is one of Ghana’s best track and field athletes overall, and her accomplishments have motivated a lot of young athletes in Ghana and all throughout Africa.
