President John Dramani Mahama launched the Ghana National Research Fund (GNRF) with GH¢100 million to promote research, innovation, and knowledge-based growth in Ghana.
The Fund will fund important national research projects, doctoral and postdoctoral programs, competitive research grants, and the creation of a cutting-edge digital grants administration system.
President Mahama urged scientists and researchers to create workable answers to the country’s problems during the opening, highlighting the importance of research that promotes improved livelihoods, industrial expansion, job creation, and agricultural transformation.
Additionally, the President gave the relevant ministries instructions to increase financing and support for research and innovation while putting Ghana in a position to take advantage of foreign funding and cooperation opportunities.
A major step toward developing science, technology, and innovation as important pillars of Ghana’s development strategy has been taken with the creation of the Ghana National Research Fund.
