Government payments will start as soon as the Auditor-General submits an interim audit report on unresolved contractor claims, which is anticipated to happen in the next few days.
Jeremy Awori, the CEO of Ecobank Group, and Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson met and discussed this development.
The GH¢67 billion in contractor arrears that the government inherited would be audited and paid out over a four-year period.
To start clearing the validated claims, GH¢13 billion has been set up in the 2025 budget.
The administration’s resolve to prevent the building of fresh arrears was emphasized by the finance minister.

He cited recent changes to the Public Financial Management Act that aim to improve contract management and public procurement’s transparency and discipline.
As the biggest bank in the nation, Ecobank was urged to increase its assistance for Ghana’s economic recovery initiatives, especially in the areas of agriculture and private sector growth.
Jeremy Awori, the CEO of Ecobank, stated that the bank is willing to increase lending and work strategically with the government, and he reiterated the bank’s intention to aid Ghana’s recovery.
John Abdulai Jinapor, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, also attended the conference.
