The Parliamentary Select Committee on Information and Communications is now participating in a two-day training hosted by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations (MoCDTI).
The main objective of the workshop is to talk about the Ministry’s and its agencies’ 2025 activity plan.

* Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC)
Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to openness and cooperation with the Select Committee.
He declared that the Ministry is creating fifteen (15) new laws that address important topics including data protection, cybersecurity, and the digital economy.
Parliament will be presented with these legislative measures in batches for consideration.
Hon. Samuel Nartey George brought attention to a major impending change: the National Information Technology Agency’s (NITA) shift to a purely regulatory organization.
It will transfer its current government IT assets and service-provider activities to a new organization.
The Minister, a former Deputy Ranking Member of the Select Committee, said that Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) will accelerate training activities in order to promote job creation for skilled coders as part of the One Million Coders Initiative.
He also highlighted important collaborations for specialized training programs with Oracle, Amazon Web Services (AWS), MTN, and Huawei.
Members of Parliament were urged by the Ningo Prampram MP to back the renovation of local training facilities and Community Information Centers (CICs).
Mr. Alexander Yaw Arphul, the Ministry’s Chief Director, members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Information and Communication, directors and heads of the Ministry’s agencies, along with their respective staff, attended the event.
