The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Fisheries Commission’s Fish Health Unit (FHU) successfully convened a two-day Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting in the FAO Ghana Conference Room in Accra on June 25–26, 2025.
Under the FAO-supported project TCP/GHA/3905, this important meeting brought together 25 experts from industry, academia, government, and research to improve and develop Ghana’s National Aquatic Animal Health Strategy (NAAHS). The group examined and improved eight strategic initiatives aimed at increasing aquaculture’s institutional capacity, disease resilience, and biosecurity.
Ghana is one step closer to a more robust and sustainable aquaculture industry now that the following steps, such as the creation of specific activities and the final evaluation of the draft strategy, have been agreed upon.
