Slums are home to 4.8 million urban inhabitants – GSS Report

According to the Ghana Statistical Service’s (GSS) most recent study on slums, 4.82 million Ghanaians, or roughly 30.8% of the country’s urban population, live in slums.

According to the report Slums and Informal Settlements in Ghana, a household is considered to have slum characteristics if it does not have access to enough living space, permanent housing, better sanitation, or drinking water, or any combination of these.
