Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlarbi, the Deputy Minister for Interior, has called on the recently established National Peace Council (NPC) Governing Board to behave honorably and pro-actively in order to maintain Ghana’s standing as a peacemaker in the West African subregion.
Speaking during a new board member orientation ceremony at Teiman in Accra, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of the NPC in promoting social cohesion, facilitating communication, and settling disputes.
Hon. Okletey Terlarbi congratulated the board members and stated that their qualifications, experience, and dedication to serving with patriotism and wisdom were the main factors in their selection.

“You have been called to serve at a time when the need for peace, dialogue, and social cohesion is paramount to foster our development as a country,” he said.
The deputy minister reaffirmed that the government and the ministry of the interior were still dedicated to viewing the National Peace Council as an essential ally in preserving internal security and peace.
He gave them his word that the Ministry would keep giving the NPC the institutional support and policy direction it needs to carry out its job.
In addition, he asked the board to maintain objectivity and credibility when dealing with delicate subjects, including political unrest, chieftaincy conflicts, and encouraging youth involvement and interfaith collaboration.
Notwithstanding the obstacles that lie ahead, the board members are dedicated to cooperating to maintain national peace, according to the chairman of the board, Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu.
The members will use their knowledge and new perspectives in their positions, supporting the NPC’s goal of fostering peace and stability in Ghana, Most Rev. Fianu emphasized.
