Two suspected robbers were killed in a gunfight during an anti-robbery operation along the Atebubu highway in the Bono East Region, according to the Ghana Police Service.
Preliminary findings indicate that the event happened on July 30, 2025, when a police patrol squad came upon an ongoing heist that was aimed against commuters on the highway.
The suspects fired when they saw the police, and the policemen fired back. After being shot, two of the suspects were taken to the hospital, where they were declared deceased. The other suspects ran into the bushes nearby.
According to a police statement on X.com on August 2, a shotgun containing two live rounds, four expended cartridges, and a machete was found during a check of the area.
According to the Ghana Police Service, a thorough search is being conducted to find the escaping criminals.
