The Makola Government Clinic will be transformed into a contemporary, four-story building, according to proposals revealed by Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, the mayor of Accra, to provide healthcare services for market women and traders in the Central Business District.
He said the move was a part of the government’s plan to modernize vital public health facilities to accommodate the city’s expanding population and commercial needs.
The announcement was made by the mayor while on a working visit to become acquainted with both active and abandoned projects throughout the city.

The mayor said, “I have observed that the facility is not in a good state,” and that the government would see to it that the clinic was transformed into a four-story structure that could offer top-notch medical care.
He underlined that the renovated clinic will eventually eliminate the need for merchants and market women to go great distances for care by bringing necessary medical services closer to the sizable population that works in and around the Makola area.
The Makola Government Clinic’s administrative manager, Natasha N. A. Addo, welcomed the mayor and his entourage and discussed some of the clinic’s difficulties while expressing gratitude for the planned renovation.
The update would greatly improve service delivery and improve the working atmosphere for healthcare personnel, she said.
Among the other projects visited were the Accra Sempe School and the Jamestown slaughterhouse.
