A five-member Accra Technical University (ATU) delegation paid Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, the mayor of Accra, a courtesy call in an effort to reestablish cooperation and fortify relations with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

The delegation’s leader, Prof. Acakpovi, clarified that the purpose of the visit was to express congratulations to the Mayor on his new position and to renew the long-standing alliance between the AMA and ATU.

He said that ATU frequently contributed to the Assembly’s committees and supported programs like the Life Project, stating that the university has been a close partner of the Assembly in applied research, infrastructure development, and community projects due to its location.

He was hopeful that the partnership will grow even more, generating creative answers to societal problems and advancing Accra’s growth.

He praised the Mayor’s leadership abilities, saying that he was a leader who had the intelligence, bravery, and insight to carry out his mandate.

The mayor greeted the team with open arms, praised ATU for its ongoing cooperation with the Assembly, and gave the group his word that he would strengthen the alliance for the city’s sustainable growth.

He said that several ATU students are serving their national service or on attachment at the AMA, and he hoped the link will grow stronger to inspire the young people to continue their study.

Among others in the group were Dr. Gokle Adibo, Head of the Department for Network and Community Engagement; Mr. Daniel Larbi, Director of General Services; Mr. Adu-Mensah, Acting Registrar; and Mr. Frank Owusu Boateng, Director of Finance.
