A review of the curfew in Nkwanta Township and its surroundings, in the Oti Region’s Nkwanta South Municipality.

The curfew for Nkwanta Township and its surroundings in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region was extended from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am today, Monday, January 19, 2026, by the Minister of the Interior on the recommendation of the Oti Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument.

Chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and local residents are still urged by the government to employ nonviolent methods to focus their energies on maintaining peace in the region and to display caution in the face of the difficulties they encounter.

In the meanwhile, it is strictly forbidden for anybody in the Nkwanta Township and its surroundings in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region to possess any offensive weapons, ammunition, or firearms; anyone found in possession of such items will be detained and prosecuted.
