I, Yagbonwura Bi-kunuto Jewu Soale I, King and Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, will hold the final funeral rituals of the late Sandape-Wura Buwulonso I, Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru Limuna, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Damongo’s Astro Turf Park.
The ceremony started at 9:00 a.m.
Alhaji Muniru, who wielded both political power and the esteemed traditional title of Sandape-Wura Buwulonso I, was among those killed in the helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Ashanti Region’s Adansi Akrofuom district.
Among those killed in the tragic crash were Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation; Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice Chairman; and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.
The crew on board, which included Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, did not survive the crash.
The funeral invitation, issued by the Yagbonwura, invites the Gonja people, political leaders, and the entire nation to gather in Damongo to honor Alhaji Muniru’s memory.
