Heritage Promotions has officially unveiled the nominees for the 15th Central Music Awards (CMA), with a total of 261 nominations across 36 categories recognising outstanding musicians and music industry professionals from Ghana’s Central Region.
The 2026 Central Music Awards nominees were selected from 381 applications submitted across 22 districts in the region. The prestigious awards ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026, at the Centre for National Culture in Cape Coast.
Central Music Awards Artiste of the Year Nominees
Six musicians are competing for the highly coveted Artiste of the Year award. They are Kwesi Taadi, Kojo Vypa, Yhaw Fargo, Skyty Nero, Koffii Tome and Okintoe.
In a special incentive marking the 15th anniversary of the awards, the winner of the New Artiste of the Year category will receive GH¢5,000. The prize is being sponsored by Central Music Awards founder Candyman Lucas Mensah.
Female Vocalist of the Year Nominees
The Female Vocalist of the Year category features four nominees who have been recognised for their vocal performances and musical contributions.
The nominees are:
- Akasii – “Ahomaso”
- Mena Srekubea – “Obeye”
- Rev Sarah Bordoh – “Yesu Beyi Wo”
- Empress Christy – “Asesa”
Male Vocalist of the Year
The Male Vocalist of the Year category has attracted a competitive list of nominees, including Qweku Skonzy, Brother Ishmael, Idi Kawawa, Mr B Fly, Kwobi Founda, Kwesi Blak, Kwaku Cenima, Khofy Guyson, Kwame Emma and KDF.
Best Rapper Category
Several prominent rappers from the Central Region are also in contention for the Best Rapper of the Year award.
The nominees include Amankrado GH, Kojo Vypa, Idi Kawawa, Kwaku Tugabwoy, Don Proph, Joe Mayar, Skyty Nero and Koffii Tome.
Best Collaboration Nominees
The Best Collaboration category will recognise some of the notable musical partnerships released during the awards period.
The nominees include:
- Kwesi Taadi – “Migraines” featuring Kelvyn Boy
- Kojo Vypa – “Imposter Remix” featuring Shaker
- No Nation Gang – “Never Fail” featuring Kwesi Taadi
Ghana Popular Song of the Year
The Ghana Popular Song of the Year category also features several well-known songs and artistes.
Nominees include Okintoe’s “Abaa Abaa,” Kofi Kinaata’s “Black Stars,” KiDi’s “Signature” featuring Lasmid, and Okese 1’s “Don’t Come Too Close II,” featuring Darkovibes, Sista Afia and Joey B.
Central Music Awards 2026 Activities
Ahead of the main awards ceremony, organisers have lined up a number of activities to build excitement among music fans and industry stakeholders.
These activities will include a hip-hop cypher featuring nominees in the rap categories, as well as the third Central Music Awards Campus Tour.
The campus tour will take the CMA team to a selected senior high school in Ghana’s Central Region as part of efforts to engage young people and promote music development.
The 15th Central Music Awards is expected to bring together leading musicians, emerging artistes, music industry professionals, fans and other stakeholders to celebrate the growth and achievements of the Central Region’s music industry.
