Popular Ghanaian actor Adjetey Anang has shared an emotional story about his first serious relationship, revealing how he was left heartbroken after his secondary school girlfriend travelled abroad without informing him.
The award-winning actor made the revelation during an interview with Nikki Samonas on Joy Prime’s Changes show, where he reflected on his youthful experiences, first love and relationships before marriage.
Adjetey Anang recalled falling in love with a beautiful and well-mannered girl identified as Theodora Lartey, popularly known as Beeca, during his secondary school days.
According to the actor, their relationship started when they met at school and gradually developed through handwritten letters, as mobile phones and social media were not available at the time.
He described Theodora as an attractive, outspoken and well-raised young woman whose personality immediately caught his attention.
How Adjetey Anang Lost His First Love
Adjetey Anang explained that their relationship appeared to be progressing smoothly until he visited his girlfriend during a long vacation and discovered that she had travelled abroad.
He said he was shocked when Theodora’s sister informed him that she had left the country with an uncle to South Africa, with the possibility of continuing to the United Kingdom.
The actor said the unexpected news left him confused because his girlfriend had not informed him about her departure, and there was no convenient way to contact her.
At the time, communication was largely dependent on handwritten letters, making it difficult for him to establish contact or find out when she would return.

The Things We Do for Love actor described Theodora as his first serious girlfriend and said he had imagined building a future with her.
He revealed that he had even pictured them getting married and having children, making her sudden departure particularly painful.
Adjetey Anang recalled walking a long distance from Labone to the stadium after receiving the news, as he struggled to understand why someone he cared deeply about would leave without saying goodbye.
Although the experience affected him emotionally, he said he could not bring himself to cry, despite the heartbreak he was experiencing.

The actor further disclosed that when Facebook and other social media platforms became popular, Theodora was the first person he searched for online.
He said he eventually found her and sent her a message asking why she had left without informing him and what he had done to deserve such treatment.
According to Adjetey Anang, Theodora responded with a lengthy message explaining the circumstances surrounding her departure.
However, he maintained that he did not believe the breakup resulted from anything he had done, noting that their inability to communicate at the time contributed to the loss of contact.
Heartbreak Experience Remains With Him Since 1991
Adjetey Anang said the experience remains the most significant heartbreak of his life, adding that he does not regard his other relationships before marriage as equally serious.
He noted that the incident, which dates back to 1991, has remained deeply memorable despite the many years that have passed.
The actor also revealed that he documented the experience in his memoir, Adjetey Anang: A Story of Faith, Imperfection and Resilience.
The book explores his childhood, personal experiences, acting career, marriage and major milestones that have shaped his journey in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
