Ghanaian entertainment executive Bullgod has urged former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, to commit some of his personal resources to reducing overcrowding at Nsawam Prison and establishing a farm to support inmates.

Bullgod made the appeal during an interview on the Classy Morning Show on Class 91.3 FM, hosted by DJ Slim, where he discussed Wontumi’s calls for reforms in Ghana’s prison system.

According to Bullgod, Wontumi should begin implementing prison improvement initiatives that do not require parliamentary approval while advocating legislative changes for broader reforms.

He encouraged the politician to invest in his proposed prison plantation project and support efforts to address infrastructure challenges at the facility.

Bullgod Backs Chairman Wontumi’s Prison Reform Proposals

Bullgod said Nsawam Prison was originally designed to accommodate approximately 800 inmates but now reportedly houses close to 4,000 people, highlighting the severity of overcrowding in Ghana’s correctional facilities.

He suggested that financial support for farming activities and additional prison infrastructure could help improve conditions for inmates.

The entertainment executive also expressed strong support for Wontumi’s broader prison reform proposals, including the introduction of conjugal visits for eligible inmates.

However, Bullgod acknowledged that implementing conjugal visitation would require changes to existing laws and parliamentary approval.

He argued that Wontumi’s reported experience within the prison system had given him an opportunity to understand its challenges firsthand and encouraged him to use his resources and influence to promote meaningful reforms.
