MultiChoice Ghana has announced a major reduction in DStv subscription prices, introducing four simplified packages aimed at making pay-TV entertainment more affordable and accessible to households across the country.
The new subscription packages, namely Starter, Select, Sports and Ultimate, will officially take effect on November 5, 2026, replacing the existing six packages: Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus, Premium and Party.
Country Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana, Alex Okyere, said the restructuring followed years of customer feedback about the high cost of DStv subscriptions despite the quality of content available on the platform.
Speaking at the launch, Mr Okyere explained that the company had responded to customers’ concerns by reducing subscription fees while expanding the entertainment and sports content available across its packages.
He described the development as a major transformation of the DStv brand, promising subscribers access to more television content at significantly lower prices.
“Our customers spoke, and we listened. This is not just restructuring. This is an evolution of the DStv brand. You are going to watch more content but pay much less than you are paying now,” he stated.
New DStv Subscription Prices in Ghana for November 2026
Under the revised pricing structure, DStv subscribers will benefit from substantial reductions in monthly subscription fees.
The four new packages and their prices are as follows:
| New DStv package | Monthly price | Previous package | Previous price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | GH¢50 | Access | GH¢98 |
| Select | GH¢100 | Family | GH¢188 |
| Sports | GH¢250 | Compact / Compact Plus | New package |
| Ultimate | GH¢570 | Premium | GH¢854 |
The new Starter package will cost GH¢50, replacing the previous Access package, which was priced at GH¢98.
The Select package, which takes over from Family, will be available at GH¢100 instead of GH¢188.
Meanwhile, the new Sports package will cost GH¢250, bringing together football content previously distributed across the Compact and Compact Plus packages.
The Ultimate package, which replaces Premium, will see its monthly subscription price reduced from GH¢854 to GH¢570.
New DStv Sports Package Offers Premier League and Champions League
One of the major highlights of the restructuring is the introduction of the DStv Sports package, designed to provide football enthusiasts with access to premium international football competitions.
According to Alex Okyere, subscribers on the new Sports package will enjoy football coverage featuring major competitions, including:
- English Premier League (EPL).
- UEFA Champions League.
- Spanish La Liga.
- Italian Serie A.
The company is also introducing a new Kick Off channel on the Starter package, which will broadcast selected football matches to subscribers on the lower-priced tier.
MultiChoice Introduces Changes to DStv Movie Channels
Beyond the subscription price reductions, MultiChoice Ghana is reorganising its movie channels to improve entertainment choices and provide subscribers with a wider range of international films.
Under the new arrangement, M-Net Movies One and M-Net Movies Two will be merged into a single channel known as M-Net Movies Plus.
Similarly, M-Net Movies Three and M-Net Movies Four will be rebranded as M-Net Movies Stars and M-Net Movies Legends respectively.
Mr Okyere explained that the changes are intended to improve access to international movie content and address customer complaints about repeated programmes, particularly among subscribers using lower-tier packages.
He further emphasised that the revised DStv subscription prices represent a permanent change rather than a temporary promotional discount.
DStv Decoder and Satellite Dish Prices Reduced in Ghana
In another major announcement, MultiChoice Ghana has reduced the cost of DStv installation equipment to encourage more households to subscribe to its pay-TV services.
Head of Sales and Distribution at MultiChoice Ghana, Michael Lartey, announced that customers can now purchase a decoder and satellite dish package for GH¢99.
Customers who already own a satellite dish will be able to purchase a decoder separately for GH¢49.
Mr Lartey said the reduced equipment prices form part of the company’s strategy to expand its subscriber base and attract more Ghanaian households.
He noted that Ghana has more than eight million electrified homes, creating a significant opportunity for the company to increase DStv penetration across the country.
“We believe that as long as you have electricity, you are eligible to be on board and to be part of this great family,” he said.
MultiChoice Expands DStv Distribution Network Across Ghana
To improve customer access and strengthen its nationwide distribution operations, MultiChoice Ghana has established a network of 12 major dealers and approximately 1,500 sales outlets across the country.
The company also has more than 350 direct sales representatives supporting customer acquisition, product distribution and subscriber services.
Additionally, MultiChoice says it is collaborating with government to address television content piracy and protect the quality of entertainment delivered to legitimate subscribers.
The company believes the combination of lower DStv subscription prices, cheaper decoders, expanded sports coverage and improved movie content will make its services more attractive to Ghanaian households.
The latest restructuring represents a significant change in Ghana’s pay-TV market, as MultiChoice seeks to improve affordability, increase competition and attract new subscribers.
