The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed reports claiming that it has granted GH¢50 million bail to suspect Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah, saying arrangements are being made to present him before a court over the weekend.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, EOCO said investigations into the case remain ongoing following the suspect’s voluntary surrender on Thursday, October 1, at about 10:00 a.m.
The anti-corruption and organised crime agency explained that Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah is currently cooperating with investigators as the Office undertakes the necessary investigative, procedural and operational processes.
EOCO Working With Attorney-General
EOCO said it is collaborating with the Office of the Attorney-General to ensure that the suspect is brought before a weekend court in accordance with the applicable legal and constitutional requirements.
The Office explained that the move is necessary to comply with the constitutional time limits and procedural requirements governing the detention and bail of suspects.
EOCO further clarified that no GH¢50 million bail has been granted to Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah, contrary to reports circulating in the media.
EOCO Warns Against Unverified Reports
The investigative agency has urged members of the public to disregard unverified reports and speculation about the ongoing case.
EOCO said the public should rely on official information from the Office for accurate updates concerning the suspect and the investigation.
The statement was issued by the Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Education on behalf of the Executive Director of EOCO.
The development comes as EOCO continues its investigations into the case while working with the Attorney-General’s Office to ensure that the suspect is presented before the appropriate court within the required legal timeframe.
