Felix Owusu-Adjapong, a former majority leader who served as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) representative for Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region, passed away at the age of 79.
On October 4, 2023, Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh posted on social media to confirm the sad news and to offer his sympathies and tribute to Owusu-Adjapong.
His death’s circumstances, however, are still unknown.
Felix Owusu-Adjapong, who was born on February 13, 1944, had an illustrious political career, serving in Ghana’s second, third, and fourth parliaments.
In the general elections of 1996, he won 45.30% of the valid votes cast, becoming the first representative for Akyem Swedru.
With 56.80% of the vote, he was re-elected in the 2000 general elections in Ghana. He then served as a minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Transport, and Communications.
He was once again chosen as a Member of Parliament in the general elections of 2004 with a significant majority vote of 66.94%.
After leaving his ministerial position, he launched an unsuccessful run for the NPP’s presidential candidacy in 2007.
