The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has welcomed 118 Ghanaian graduates from the People’s Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), whose postgraduate education was sponsored by the Jospong Group of Companies through the African Agribusiness Consortium (AAC).
The graduates are expected to play a vital role in advancing Ghana’s agriculture sector, supporting commercial farming, agricultural research, and sustainable food production in line with the Government’s Feed Ghana Programme.
Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, Minister for Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku described the graduates’ return as a significant milestone in Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda and a major contribution to improving food security, creating jobs, and modernising the country’s farming industry.
To accelerate their integration into large-scale agriculture, the Minister announced a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the African Agribusiness Consortium (AAC) to establish a 750-acre commercial vegetable production hub.
Under the partnership, MoFA will provide irrigated farmland, while AAC will supply essential farming logistics and finance the irrigation water required for production. The initiative is expected to enhance vegetable farming, increase agricultural productivity, and promote sustainable agribusiness development across Ghana.
The 118 graduates include 88 specialists in Agronomy and 30 specialists in Ecology, all equipped with advanced knowledge to support commercial agriculture, agricultural innovation, extension services, climate-smart farming, and environmental sustainability.
Government officials believe the graduates will help strengthen food production, improve agricultural productivity, create employment opportunities, and drive long-term growth in Ghana’s agricultural sector through modern farming practices and agribusiness innovation.
