Police Investigate Death of Two Women Found at Tamale Hotel as IGP Deploys Special Investigation Team

The Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation into the tragic deaths of two women whose bodies were discovered in a hotel room at Cab Hospitality Hotel in Tamale, prompting the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to deploy a special investigative team.

According to the Northern Regional Police Command, the incident was reported by the hotel management on Monday, August 3, 2026, after the lifeless bodies of the two women, believed to be nationals of Benin, were found inside one of the hotel’s rooms.

The Police confirmed that the bodies were transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital Mortuary, where they have been preserved pending a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

To strengthen the ongoing investigation, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has assigned a specialized team from the Police Headquarters, comprising experienced investigators, intelligence officers, and crime scene experts, to support the Northern Regional Police Command in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Ghana Police Service has also appealed to the public to assist with the investigation by providing any credible information that could help identify what led to the deaths of the two women.
