A major industrial fire at the Tema Industrial Area has been successfully extinguished after firefighters battled the blaze for several hours.
The commercial fire broke out at about 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, involving a takeaway warehouse as well as a rubber warehouse and factory. The incident prompted a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service, which deployed four fire tenders from the Tema Industrial, Devtraco, Motorway, and Free Zones Fire Stations to contain the flames.
During the firefighting operation, several firefighters sustained injuries. One firefighter was injured after a section of a wall collapsed on him and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Tema General Hospital.
Although the fire has been brought under control, firefighters remain at the scene carrying out salvage and overhaul operations to prevent any possible re-ignition and assess the extent of the damage.
Authorities are expected to release additional information, including the cause of the warehouse fire and the estimated cost of damages, as investigations continue.
