The Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has joined Africa World Airlines (AWA) to welcome the airline’s newly acquired Embraer E190 aircraft at the Accra International Airport.
The arrival of the new aircraft marks another development in Ghana’s aviation industry as AWA seeks to strengthen its operations and improve air connectivity within Africa.
Transport Minister Commends Africa World Airlines
Speaking during the reception, Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe commended Africa World Airlines for its contribution to improving air transportation and connectivity across the African continent.
He particularly recognised AWA’s role in connecting destinations in sub-Saharan Africa, noting that the airline has helped facilitate travel between African cities while contributing to efforts to promote the continent internationally.
The Minister’s remarks highlighted the importance of a strong aviation sector in supporting regional economic integration, tourism, trade and business travel.
New Embraer E190 to Strengthen AWA Operations
The newly acquired Embraer E190 aircraft has a seating capacity of approximately 100 passengers and is expected to enhance Africa World Airlines’ operational capacity.
The addition of the aircraft is also expected to support efforts to improve regional air connectivity from Ghana, providing additional capacity for passengers travelling between Ghana and other African destinations.
The development comes as Ghana continues to focus on strengthening its aviation infrastructure and regional connectivity as part of broader efforts to promote economic integration across Africa.
The new aircraft is therefore expected to contribute to AWA’s operations while supporting Ghana’s ambitions to become a stronger aviation and transportation hub within the region.
