Dr. Bawumia Joins NPP Delegation at Dagbon Regent Installation in Yendi

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday led a New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegation to Yendi to participate in the official installation ceremony of the Regent of the Dagbon Kingdom, Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abukari.

The traditional event brought together chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents of Dagbon, highlighting the rich cultural heritage, customs, and traditions of one of Ghana’s most respected traditional kingdoms.

During his address, Dr. Bawumia reflected on his longstanding relationship with the late Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II, recalling how their friendship began when the late monarch served as Yoo-Naa in Savelugu before ascending to the revered Dagbon skin in Yendi. He described their bond as one built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to the development and prosperity of the people of Dagbon.

The former Vice President also extended his congratulations to Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abukari on his installation as Regent of the Dagbon Kingdom. He encouraged the new Regent to uphold the enduring legacy of peace, unity, and stability established by the late Ya-Na, stressing the importance of preserving harmony for the continued growth and development of Dagbon.

The ceremony marked another significant milestone in the history of the Dagbon Kingdom and reaffirmed the vital role of traditional leadership in promoting peace, cultural heritage, and community development in Ghana.

May God bless Dagbon and Ghana.
