Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, has indicated that President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to cut the number of ministers to 60 has resulted in huge savings for Ghana.

According to him, the drop from 125 ministers to 60 during the Akufo-Addo administration has resulted in savings on Land Cruisers, saloon vehicles, bungalows, gasoline, and other advantages.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu, speaking at the Government Accountability Series yesterday, January 14, 2026, stated that each minister is entitled to a four-wheel drive Land Cruiser, a saloon car, housing, fuel, and a salary.

The decrease in ministers has resulted in significant savings because a basic Land Cruiser currently costs $120,000, while a saloon car costs between $50,000 to $60,000.

He continued by saying that the administration has also refrained from paying wages for the fewer ministers and renovating houses.

As evidenced by the reduction of ministries, this action is part of President Mahama’s attempt to improve efficiency and streamline government processes.
