Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is set to lead a Ghanaian delegation to the 2026 International Arts and Handicraft Trade Show (SIA 2026) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The major international trade and cultural exhibition is scheduled to take place from September 30 to October 8, 2026, with Ghana expected to use the platform to promote local products, strengthen regional trade and deepen economic cooperation with Burkina Faso.
Ghana to Showcase Arts, Handicrafts and Local Industries
Minister Ofosu-Adjare will participate in the 18th edition of SIA as a guest speaker. Her participation is expected to highlight Ghana’s commitment to expanding trade relations, promoting cultural exchange and creating new business opportunities across West Africa.
The development was announced after a delegation from Burkina Faso, led by the country’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. David Kabre, paid a courtesy visit to the Trade Minister in Accra on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
During the meeting, Ofosu-Adjare said Ghana would use its participation in SIA 2026 to strengthen bilateral relations and increase trade cooperation with Burkina Faso.
She assured the Burkinabe authorities and stakeholders of Ghana’s support for the successful organisation of the international exhibition.
Ghana-Burkina Faso Trade Relations
The Minister stressed the importance of stronger regional economic cooperation to support local industries, artisans, entrepreneurs and small businesses across West Africa.
She noted that platforms such as SIA 2026 can help African businesses access new markets, promote locally manufactured products and attract trade and investment opportunities.
Ambassador David Kabre, on his part, praised Minister Ofosu-Adjare for her contribution to strengthening Ghana-Burkina Faso economic relations.
He highlighted recent improvements in bilateral trade, including the export of eggs from Ghana to Burkina Faso and the expansion of tomato trading between the two neighbouring countries.
Burkina Faso Delegation Meets Trade Minister
The Burkina Faso delegation included the Chief Director of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Handicraft, Alassane Ouedraogo, the Director General of the International Handicraft Fair of Ouagadougou, and other senior government officials.
Their engagement with the Ghanaian Trade Minister focused on strengthening cooperation and ensuring a successful Ghanaian presence at the upcoming international exhibition.
SIA 2026 to Promote Trade and Investment
The International Arts and Handicraft Trade Show (SIA 2026) is expected to attract artisans, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors and industry leaders from across Africa and other parts of the world.
The event will provide opportunities to showcase African handicrafts, cultural products, creative industries and locally made goods, while promoting international trade and investment.
Ghana’s participation is therefore expected to further strengthen Ghana-Burkina Faso trade relations and create new opportunities for Ghanaian businesses, artisans and exporters to access regional and international markets.
