Ken Ofori-Atta, the minister of finance, has reaffirmed the government’s determination to quickly turn around Ghana’s economic situation.

Mr. Ofori-Atta spoke at MTN Group’s 2023 Capital Market Day (CMD), a two-day event in Johannesburg, South Africa, intended to engage with stakeholders in the financial community. He emphasized the government’s commitment to reviving the economy.

He admitted that external causes, like as the COVID-19 pandemic’s harmful effects and the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine, had contributed to Ghana’s difficulties. In order to lessen the consequences on the economy, the administration requested financial support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Mr. Ofori-Atta stressed that the government was persisting in the face of these obstacles and taking action to overcome them and regain economic stability.

He added that the government wanted to foster an atmosphere where businesses could prosper, create jobs, and promote economic progress.

Mr. Ofori-Atta stated, “We will create an environment that is conducive for businesses to thrive, create employment opportunities, and drive economic growth. We are concentrating on boosting agricultural productivity, promoting local industries, and investing in crucial infrastructure projects.

“We will uphold reasonable budgetary policies, enhance revenue production, and give the effective use of resources first priority. These steps will guarantee that our efforts to revive the economy are long-lasting.

“We comprehend the struggles that our folks are going through and share their worries. For this reason, we are doing everything in our power to speed up the healing process.
