The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has advised all eligible taxpayers to file their returns and maintain compliance.
The GRA made this statement in response to the Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel At Forson and his Deputy, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, filing their tax returns.
They also emphasised the significance of tax compliance as a shared civic and moral obligation.
According to the authority’s X page, “Filing returns on time helps strengthen transparency, accountability, and the domestic revenue needed to support national development.”
The Finance Minister, for his part, emphasised that tax compliance is both a civic and a moral obligation and praised taxpayers for their contribution to the country’s progress.
“We did so for a simple reason: leadership must be demonstrated, not declared,” Dr. Forson said.
“Paying taxes is a shared civic responsibility. It is the foundation of good governance,” he said, adding that tax income supports vital industries like infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.
Along with praising the Ghana Revenue Authority’s achievements during Tax and Good Governance Month, the Minister called for more public education and ongoing reforms to make compliance easier.
He emphasised that a solid tax culture is essential to creating a stable and prosperous Ghana and urged individuals who have not yet filed their taxes to do so right away.
