The Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has called for a more targeted and practical strategy to address major challenges confronting Ghana’s healthcare system, particularly the persistent problem of maternal and newborn deaths.
She stressed the need for health sector stakeholders to move away from trying to tackle every healthcare challenge simultaneously and instead focus on critical problems that can be addressed effectively with available resources.
According to the Deputy Health Minister, identifying priority areas and implementing targeted healthcare interventions will enable the country to achieve measurable improvements in maternal and newborn health.
She noted that a focused approach could help health authorities and other stakeholders make better use of available resources while delivering practical solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing healthcare delivery in Ghana.
Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah emphasised that reducing maternal mortality and newborn deaths requires coordinated action, clear priorities and interventions that are designed to produce measurable outcomes.
Her comments highlight the importance of strengthening maternal healthcare services, newborn care and health sector interventions as Ghana continues efforts to improve healthcare outcomes and protect mothers and babies.
