Prior to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries slated for Saturday, August 26, 2023, the vice president’s campaign team, led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, denied claims that it had gathered monies to influence party members.

A video that’s going around on social media shows some unnamed people hoarding cash at an unspecified location.

The video’s description claims that the money is intended to be given to delegates ahead of the primary elections in order to persuade them to support Dr. Bawmumia, one of the NPP’s potential flagbearer candidates.

Gideon Boako, the vice president’s spokesperson, explained in a statement that “this is malicious propaganda. Prior to the 2020 elections, this video was released in 2020 and has since been in circulation.

It is really terrible that Dr. Bawumia’s opponents have used this old film, labeled it viciously, and spread it extensively. The highest level of scorn should be shown toward this wicked misinformation.

Out of ten candidates, the NPP will choose five on August 26 for the presidential primary on November 4.

For Saturday’s election, 10 people have submitted nominations and passed screening thus far.
