Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former minister of finance under the late Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills and forme presidential aspirant for the NDC, predicts that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would prevail in the general election of 2024.

He considers the NDC to be Ghana’s strongest political organization since the country’s independence.

“I will run a campaign for John Mahama, and together we will triumph in the 2024 elections. We are working as well as they are. Since independence, the NDC has been the best administration.

“Nkrumah fared well, particularly in manufacturing, but with our track record, we are talking about democracy and the state of the economy.

The NDC’s track record between 2009 and 2012 saw the lowest inflation and interest rates in the country’s 40 years of independence. Dr. Duffuor said on CitiTV that the interest rate has significantly decreased over the past 40 years.

The former finance minister went on to say that during his administration, the Ghanaian cedi steadied and Treasury bill rates fell below 10%.

Under his leadership as Minister, Ghana also moved by 60 pesewas, and GDP was 14.5 in 2011, according to the previous Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

He did, however, add that Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah, achieved great things for the country, including building infrastructure.
