Information that Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor (OSP), escaped two murder attempts while performing his duty for the Republic has caught the attention of the Ministry of the Interior.

On December 6, 2025, Mr. Samuel Appiah Darko, the Director of Strategy, Research, and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, brought up the assassination attempt on Newsfile, an Accra television station.

On the same episode, he also said that 17 police officers had battered and handcuffed him.

Beyond the security ramifications of these allegations, the government’s efforts to fight corruption, which have gotten more intense since it entered office, may be jeopardized if such threats to accountability institution staff are real.

As a result, the Ministry has taken the situation seriously.

Here are some preliminary results about the purported assassination attempt”

  1. Initial contacts with Mr. Kissi Agyebeng have revealed that the assassination attempts on him, as claimed, happened before this year.
  2. There is no record or report of such threats against his life at any police station or at any of the state security agencies in the country.

The Minister of Interior has also directed the following:

  1. Since crime does not expire, the Ministry has ordered a full-scale investigation into the claim of assassination attempts.
  2. The Ministry has also ordered an investigation into the claim by Mr. Samuel Appiah Darko that he was handcuffed and beaten by 17 police personnel.

The Ministry will keep the public updated on the results of these investigations and the next steps.
