Ghana captain Jordan Ayew will miss the Black Stars’ upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia after suffering a groin injury.
The 35-year-old Ghana striker sustained the injury while playing for Sheffield United during their defeat to Stoke City over the weekend.
Jordan Ayew subsequently reported to the Black Stars camp on Monday night as Ghana prepares for the start of its AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
However, following further medical examinations by the Ghana national team’s medical staff, the experienced forward was ruled out of both upcoming qualifiers.
