Kennedy Agyapong has been threatened with arrest by Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the regional chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Ashanti.

Popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, he claimed to be aware of the MP for Assin Central’s powers after issuing threats in the past that resulted in some deaths.

He pointed out that the late journalist Ahmed Suale passed away as a result of the NPP presidential candidate threatening him.

Chairman Wontumi, whom Kennedy Agyapong called a “small boy,” was charged with insulting him on his radio and television stations.

During his “showdown walk” in the Ashanti area, Mr. Agyapong made the statement to a crowd of his fans at Jubilee Park in Kumasi.

Chairman Wontumi denied ever disparaging the Assin Central Member of Parliament or letting some persons to sit on his television and radio stations to disrespect him or anyone else during a news conference held today in Kumasi in response to Kennedy Agyapong.

Mr. Boasiako pleaded with the boisterous MP to show proof of him (Wontumi) insulting and allowing individuals to sit on his television and radio stations to attack him (Kennedy) so that appropriate legal action might be taken.

The removal of the posters of the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, was not ordered by Chairman Wontumi, according to him, out of animosity.

As a result of Alan’s resignation from the party to run as an independent in the general elections of 2024, he claimed he ordered the destruction of the posters.
