Kennedy Agyapong, a leading candidate for the role of flagbearer within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has leveled serious accusations against his own party, claiming that public funds were embezzled and illegally stored in overseas accounts.
A video of Mr. Agyapong’s fervent comments has gone popular on social media, underscoring his dissatisfaction with the current circumstances.
A clearly upset Mr. Agyapong expressed shock at the high rates of youth unemployment in Ghana while accusing party members of misusing public monies in the video.
He publicly questioned the motivations behind this alleged corruption, stating that he was willing to put his life in danger to advance the cause of the nation’s children and better their living conditions.
NPP is plundering this country as if there were no tomorrow, he cried. Why do you plunder and hoard money abroad? I’ll risk my life to protect the country’s kids because they aren’t working and you’re intimidating people.
Kennedy Agyapong is one of the four candidates competing to represent the NPP as flagbearer; the decision will be made on November 4.
If chosen, he will represent the NPP in the general election of 2024, where his main opponent is anticipated to be the former president John Dramani Mahama.
