The 67th Independence Day National Celebration, set for March 6, 2024, will take place in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region.
Members of the national organizing committee were escorted to the Eastern Region by Lord Commey, director of operations at the Office of the President, where they notified the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs of the impending celebration.
The team went to the Koforidua Youth Resource Center, where the national parade was held, to evaluate its amenities and offer any necessary suggestions.
Several sub-planning committees with distinct responsibilities were established during a meeting at the Regional Coordinating Council in order to guarantee the celebration’s success.
Commey encouraged private sector involvement for sponsorship and cooperation opportunities, urging the region to take advantage of the event to exhibit itself to the nation and the world.
According to him, the region’s celebration needs to intensify and boost the local economy.
In an announcement announcing the event’s formal launch date on February 1, 2024, Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong expressed the region’s willingness to hold its first-ever National Independence Day celebration.
President Akufo Addo will celebrate his final Independence Day celebration before ending his two terms on January 7, 2025, at this event.
