Important guidelines have been released by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the forthcoming Parliamentary Primaries, which are set for Saturday, January 27, 2024.

No party official or government appointee, from local to national levels, will be permitted to meddle, the party claims.

This was revealed by NPP General Secretary Attorney Justin Kodua Frimpong during a news conference on Monday, January 22, 2024, in Kumasi.

He gave the Ghana Police complete control over security, specifically stating that “bodybuilders,” sometimes referred to as Machomen, would not be present at polling places.

A thorough set of rules was also adopted by the protocols, which forbade delegates from camping, taking photos while voting, donning candidate t-shirts, or conducting campaigning on election day.

Justin Kodua emphasized that delegates needed to bring their identity cards and that only those who passed would be able to cast ballots.

In response to queries on possible proxy voting, the General Secretary declared that there will be no proxy voting at the Parliamentary Primaries on Saturday.

The NPP scribe made a noteworthy announcement by confirming that Nhyiaeso delegates will be attending Saturday’s Parliamentary Primaries.

He disclosed that the area’s former MP, Hon. Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, who serves as Asokore Mampong’s municipal chief executive at the moment, has been given permission to run in the primaries.

Justin Kodua issued a strong warning against casting ballots in public, threatening to prosecute anyone caught taking ballot photos by the Ghana Police.

He urged all candidates and interested parties to scrupulously follow the established protocols, assuring them that the NPP is dedicated to maintaining transparency and justice in the political process.

Voting would take place around the country from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm.
