President John Dramani Mahama will undertake a two-day ResettingGhana tour in the Northern Region on Saturday, his second such regional engagement following a similar visit to the Bono Region.

The tour, which takes place from Saturday, April 18 to Sunday, April 19, is intended to give people the chance to interact directly with the President under the guidance of their traditional leaders, offer input on government policy initiatives, discuss how those initiatives affect their day-to-day lives, voice concerns that need to be addressed, and assess ongoing development projects in the area.

During the two-day tour, President Mahama will be accompanied by a number of state ministries and institutional leaders.

The President will assess the status of ongoing development projects and lay the groundwork for the region’s 24-hour markets on Saturday.

The engagement on Sunday is more straightforward and transparent. At the University of Development Studies in Tamale, President Mahama will hold a town hall meeting where government appointees will address questions from the public and provide an update on significant policy changes implemented in the previous year.

The Mahama administration’s initiatives to bring governance closer to the people and establish direct channels of connection between citizens and their government outside of the capital include the ResettingGhana tour.

The President’s hectic week, which included the introduction of the Free Primary Healthcare policy in Dodowa, the announcement of gasoline price relief measures, and a travel to Brazzaville for the investiture of Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, is followed by the visit to the Northern Region.
