Members of the Kristo Asafo Mission’s Galilea branch have raised concerns over money they say was collected from them for funeral arrangements, with some members demanding an explanation and a full refund.
The dispute involves Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena and other senior church leaders following allegations surrounding contributions made ahead of the funeral.
In a video circulating on social media on August 19, 2026, some aggrieved members explained that they were asked to contribute financially toward the organisation of the funeral.
According to the members, Sarah Adwoa Safo subsequently organised the funeral despite a court injunction that reportedly prevented Akofena from taking control of the burial arrangements.
The members argue that since Akofena was unable to oversee the funeral as allegedly intended, the money collected specifically for that purpose should be returned to those who contributed.
Members Question Use of Funeral Contributions
Some members further alleged that Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena and other individuals who collected the contributions were not present at the actual funeral.
The situation has reportedly created frustration and disappointment among members of the Galilea congregation, with some expressing concerns that their financial contributions were collected under circumstances they now consider questionable.
Fresh Contributions Trigger More Concerns
Tensions reportedly increased following an announcement by the Galilea branch pastor several days after the burial.
Members were reportedly asked to make another round of financial contributions toward the birthday celebration of the late Apostle Professor Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, in addition to other donations.
The latest development has sparked further questions among some congregation members about church fundraising, financial accountability and the management of contributions.
The aggrieved members are calling for greater transparency regarding the funds collected and seeking clarity on whether the funeral contributions will be refunded.
