The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is strengthening its use of data analytics and modern statistical tools to improve tax administration, increase revenue mobilisation and enhance taxpayer compliance.
The move is expected to support more effective evidence-based decision-making as Ghana’s economy becomes increasingly digital and data-driven.
Speaking at the opening of the 2026 GRA Statistics and Data Analysts’ Seminar in Ho, Technical Advisor to the Commissioner-General of the GRA, Elsie Appau-Klu, said Ghana’s tax administration system must continue to adapt to changes in the economy.
She stressed that the growing use of digital technologies requires the GRA to adopt more advanced approaches to analysing taxpayer and economic data.
According to her, modern statistical methods and data analytics will play an important role in identifying revenue opportunities, improving tax compliance and strengthening the efficiency of Ghana’s revenue collection system.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the GRA to modernise tax administration, leverage technology and improve domestic revenue mobilisation.
As Ghana continues its digital transformation, the increased use of data-driven tools is expected to help tax authorities make better-informed policy decisions while improving the effectiveness and transparency of revenue collection.
