The Government of Ghana is set to sign five new petroleum agreements with international oil companies seeking to enter the country’s upstream petroleum sector, Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has announced.

According to the minister, growing investor confidence in Ghana’s oil and gas industry has sparked renewed interest from major international companies seeking opportunities in the country’s petroleum sector.

John Jinapor attributed the increased investor interest to strategic reforms and policy measures implemented by the government to improve Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry and create a more attractive investment environment.

The minister made the disclosure during the launch of the Petroleum Commission’s 15th anniversary celebrations, where he highlighted the growing optimism surrounding the future of Ghana’s oil and gas sector.

The proposed petroleum agreements are expected to support oil exploration, production, investment and economic growth, while strengthening Ghana’s position as an attractive destination for international energy companies.

The development could also boost Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector, attract fresh foreign investment and create additional opportunities across the country’s oil and gas value chain.
