The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) equities market has delivered a strong performance in 2026, recording a 73% year-to-date increase as trading activity more than doubled compared with the same period in 2025.
Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange, Abena Amoah, attributed the impressive performance to increased investor participation and renewed confidence in Ghana’s capital market.
Speaking at the launch of the updated GSE Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Manual, Amoah disclosed that the equities index had risen by 73% as of August 18, 2026.
She described the performance as one of the strongest gains recorded among equity markets globally, highlighting growing interest in Ghanaian stocks and improved activity on the local stock market.
The latest GSE performance points to strengthening investor confidence and increased opportunities within Ghana’s capital market, as both local and international investors continue to monitor the country’s equities market.
