The Ghana Police Service has arrested one person after intercepting approximately 500 cartons of assorted Tramadol brands at Widana in the Pusiga District of Ghana’s Upper East Region.

The seizure followed a month-long intelligence-led operation conducted by personnel from the Police Intelligence Department (PID) and the operational team known as Black Cobra.

Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Abdul Ali, a Burkinabe national, who was arrested in connection with the intercepted consignment.

Abdul Ali is currently in police custody and is assisting investigators as authorities work to establish the source and intended destination of the pharmaceutical products.

The Ghana Police Service has also launched further investigations to identify and apprehend other individuals who may be connected to the suspected Tramadol trafficking operation.

The latest seizure highlights ongoing efforts by Ghanaian law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal movement and distribution of controlled pharmaceutical products across the country’s borders.
