President John Dramani Mahama has praised Kasapreko PLC for its successful listing on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), describing the indigenous Ghanaian company as a shining example of local entrepreneurship, industrial growth and private-sector investment.

President Mahama made the remarks on Thursday during a working visit to Kasapreko PLC, where he highlighted the company’s contribution to Ghana’s manufacturing industry, job creation and economic development.

The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase the company’s ongoing expansion, including the construction of a new manufacturing facility at Adeiso, which is expected to increase production capacity and create additional employment opportunities.

Kasapreko PLC Raises GH¢700 Million Through Stock Exchange Listing

Kasapreko PLC officially listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange on June 15, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the company’s 38-year history.

The listing followed a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) that attracted approximately GH¢1.72 billion in investor demand, representing a subscription rate of 246%. The public offer ranked among the notable transactions in Ghana’s capital market in recent years.

President Mahama said the company’s achievement should encourage other Ghanaian businesses to consider listing on the stock exchange to raise capital for expansion and long-term growth.

He observed that some local entrepreneurs hesitate to list their businesses because they fear losing control when external investors acquire shares. However, he explained that Kasapreko’s experience demonstrates how companies can attract investment while continuing to grow their operations.

According to the President, Kasapreko raised approximately GH¢700 million through the listing and is investing the funds in its new factory at Adeiso.

He congratulated the company’s management and expressed optimism that the investment would pave the way for further factory development and increased employment across Ghana.

New Kasapreko Factory at Adeiso to Create More Jobs

President Mahama highlighted the importance of expanding local manufacturing companies to address youth unemployment and strengthen Ghana’s industrial base.

He said he was encouraged by the number of young people employed at Kasapreko and commended the company for providing opportunities for Ghanaians to earn a living.

The President recalled visiting the company approximately 11 years earlier to commission its Production Line Three. He noted that the facility had since expanded to Production Line Eight, producing a variety of goods for both the domestic and international markets.

According to him, the company’s growth demonstrates the potential of Ghanaian-owned businesses to expand production, compete internationally and contribute to national development.

President Mahama also expressed anticipation about the completion of the new Adeiso factory, saying he hoped to return the following year to commission the facility.

The planned expansion is expected to support increased manufacturing output and create additional jobs for Ghanaian workers.

Mahama Urges Ghanaian Businesses to Invest in Local Manufacturing

The President described Kasapreko as a successful Ghanaian brand that other indigenous businesses should emulate.

He challenged the perception that large-scale industrial production is primarily the preserve of foreign-owned companies, stressing that Ghanaian entrepreneurs also have the capacity to establish and operate competitive manufacturing businesses.

President Mahama encouraged local investors to explore opportunities in industrial production rather than limiting their activities to trading and distribution.

He said the continued expansion of companies such as Kasapreko demonstrates that Ghanaian businesses can build strong brands, attract investors and compete effectively in international markets.

He added that supporting indigenous manufacturing companies would help strengthen the private sector, expand the country’s industrial capacity and create sustainable employment opportunities.

24-Hour Economy to Support Industrial Expansion in Ghana

President Mahama said the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative was helping create opportunities for both new industries and existing businesses seeking to expand their operations.

He explained that the policy aims to encourage increased production, promote investment and create more jobs by supporting businesses to operate more efficiently and expand their productive activities.

The President also pointed to improvements in the economic environment as an important factor in encouraging private-sector investment.

He said the government was pursuing fiscal discipline and working to ensure that public expenditure remained within sustainable limits, thereby creating greater opportunities for private businesses to grow.

According to him, a stable economic environment is essential for manufacturers seeking to invest in new factories, acquire modern equipment and expand their workforce.

Government Introduces Export Development Initiatives

President Mahama identified the 24-Hour Economy initiative and the Accelerated Export Development Programme as two important policies under the government’s Resetting Ghana Agenda.

He said these initiatives were designed to strengthen Ghana’s industrial sector, increase domestic production and promote the export of locally manufactured goods.

The Accelerated Export Development Programme, which he chairs, is intended to support efforts to increase Ghana’s export capacity and expand opportunities for businesses in international markets.

President Mahama emphasised that Ghana must move beyond dependence on imported products by supporting local industries to manufacture goods that can compete in both domestic and foreign markets.

He said stronger manufacturing and export performance would help create jobs, generate business income and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry to Strengthen Industrial Development

The President also highlighted the redesignation of the Ministry of Trade as the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, explaining that the change was intended to give greater attention to industrial development.

He said the revised ministerial mandate had helped place manufacturing and industry more prominently on the government’s economic agenda.

President Mahama commended the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, for engaging with businesses and bringing their concerns and operational challenges to the attention of the government.

He stressed that effective collaboration between government and the private sector is necessary to address barriers to investment, improve the business environment and accelerate industrial growth.

Kasapreko Listing Highlights Opportunities in Ghana’s Capital Market

Kasapreko PLC’s successful listing on the Ghana Stock Exchange highlights the role of the capital market in helping local businesses raise funds for expansion.

Through an Initial Public Offering, companies can attract investment from individuals and institutions, providing additional capital to finance new facilities, increase production and pursue growth opportunities.

President Mahama’s remarks are expected to encourage more Ghanaian businesses to explore stock market listing as a potential route to raising long-term financing.

As Kasapreko advances its expansion plans, the company’s growth represents an important example of the potential of indigenous manufacturing, private-sector investment and export-oriented industrial development in Ghana.

The government’s broader economic agenda remains focused on creating an environment where local businesses can expand, attract investment, compete internationally and provide employment for more Ghanaians.
